FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Fisher Families,

Welcome to the second quarter of the 20.21 school year! We are three days into our new and improved schedule, and I am hoping that all is going well and students are settling in to our new routine. One of the new features of our schedule is an improved Study Hall.

Study Hall is an open Zoom meeting that allows students to have direct access to the core subject teachers during the designated class period. Study Hall is not mandatory however some teachers may strongly encourage your child to attend should they need some support. We are pleased to be able to offer this assistance to your children.

I would like to send a HUGE thank you to our Home and School Club President, Heather LeRoy, and all the wonderful volunteers that supported our Spooky Swag Bag Pick Up and Costume Contest. We had a great day and enjoyed seeing all the students and families! Thank you to all of those who came by and took part; our participants will be showcased on KRJF. And, our Costume Contest Winners will be announced in next week’s Fisher Flyer and on KRJF.

Fisher was pleased to be able to support our families that lost power Monday and Tuesday of this week. Students were able to work in our Multi-purpose Room so that they could attend class and complete their school work. Should we have similar planned outages, we hope to be able to continue this type of support for our students and families.

There has been extensive discussion around live, small group instruction (or pilot programs) for students on campus. Fisher is working to create these opportunities with our staff. Currently, we are able to offer a small art club, programs for our special needs students, and a Study Hall opportunity for our second language learners. We hope to expand these small group instruction programs over the next two weeks. Our goal is to add four to six more small group instruction opportunities beginning the week of November 9.

Additionally, athletic conditioning is coming soon! Our Athletic Director, Mark Mercer and Assistant Principal, Paul Brennan, are working closely with the Los Gatos Recreation Department to offer small group conditioning opportunities in the following sports: basketball, volleyball, track and field and soccer. Please complete the survey below by Sunday, November 1, regarding your child’s interest in participation:

Thank you for your continued support! We are grateful.

Take care and stay well.

Principal
AMERICAN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION (AMC8)
In normal years, Fisher students participate in this math competition during school hours. Because of these unusual times and COVID-19 challenges, Fisher will be participating in this competition remotely. We would like to offer this opportunity to any students that are interested.

Please complete the form below if your child is interested in competing in the 2020 AMC8. The test will be administered online and proctored via Zoom. There will only be one testing session: Friday, November 13, 2020 from 3:15-4:25pm. More information about this mathematics competition can be found at AMCINFO@MAA.ORG. This form must be completed by November 4, 2020. It will be closed after that date. Please email Mary Lonhart with any questions (mlonhart@lgusd.org).
