February 2022 will forever be of historic significance for Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU). This month, we honor the university’s contributions and legacy of excellence in Black History Month and celebrate our official Carnegie Classification® designation of Doctoral Universities of High Research Activity or an R2.
The Division of Research & Innovation (R&I) applauds all PVAMU faculty, staff, researchers, students, alumni, and administrators who worked collaboratively to elevate the research and innovation across all three campuses.
PVAMU is among only 133 higher education institutions across the nation to earn the R2 classification. Of the 107 colleges in the United States identified as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), we are one of only 10 HBCUs to attain this classification.
This month’s newsletter will provide some highlights on our Carnegie classification and media coverage of research successes; news of major research grant awards; and a student researcher's perspective on how engaging in research at PVAMU is preparing her for a scholarly career. The dedication to research and innovation here at Prairie View A&M is forging forward as we are committed to becoming an emerging research institution.
