This month of March 2022 marks the 35th anniversary of National Women's History Month. When it comes to gender parity, I believe education is the most powerful tool women can use to eliminate any deliberate or unconscious bias against them. We recognize and celebrate the great contributions of our women leaders, researchers, innovators, faculty, staff, and students. We recently hosted a Women in STEM seminar sessions highlighting the great work of our female researchers and innovators.
Prairie View A&M University's recent Carnegie Classification elevation to an R2 (Doctoral University; High Research Activity) makes the university one of only 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the U.S. and 10 Texas higher education institutions to have that designation. Our faculty members and researchers, and the Division of Research & Innovation serving them, continue the work toward becoming a Texas Emerging Research Institution. In my recent invited talk at APLU to the research leaders at US universities, I highlighted the successful research partnerships with industries, corporations, national labs, and research institutions.
Next month, you will witness PVAMU's ongoing research as we host the 2022 Research & Innovation Week, from April 4-8, 2022. This year's theme is Ready. Set. Connect. We will showcase undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research and scholarly accomplishments, along with fantastic programming for Industry Day and Innovation Day.
R&I Week 2022 will prominently exemplify how research and innovation at PVAMU are On The RISE!
