We have a great Fall semester in progress!
We recently gathered as a PVAMU community to honor faculty members and researchers who set inspiring examples of excellence in research and innovation activities with the “R&I Faculty Research and Innovation Awards” under four categories. The ceremony was not held in the past two years because of the COVID-19 restrictions. R&I takes pride in recognizing eleven faculty members, including high-achieving junior faculty members, with plaques and cash awards for outstanding accomplishments in sponsored and scholarly research and innovation. In appreciation of the dedicated efforts of our faculty and researchers, we are launching this year the inaugural Principal Investigator Appreciation event.
Continuing the R&I tradition of nurturing future generations of scholars, scientists, and engineers, we awarded Faculty RISE-Graduate and Undergraduate grants to our faculty members and researchers to support nearly 100 students, including 31 graduate students. R&I has ensured newly hired faculty members have a jump-start with their research and scholarship activities by awarding them Faculty RISE grants.
Our efforts to encourage and support student innovation endeavors continue with the annual Panthers Invent event scheduled for September 16-18, 2022. The innovation competition, sponsored by Sandia Labs, has already attracted more than 49 student registrants.
Please join us in congratulating the faculty members highlighted in this issue for winning large grants for their research projects and being on the RISE.
