NEXT VACCINE PHASE

Beginning March 15, healthcare providers may use their clinical judgement to vaccinate individuals age 16-64 who are deemed to be at the very highest risk for morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 as a direct result of one or more of the severe health conditions included in this provider bulletin.
Second Dose Vaccines in Riverside County

Those receiving a second COVID-19 vaccine is growing as more second-dose clinics are planned throughout Riverside County. Riverside County officials have conducted various second-dose vaccine clinics and plan for others throughout the region in the coming weeks. The second-dose clinic frequency depends on the supply of vaccines available.

As more vaccine doses have been made available to the county, officials have provided more to the community partners. For those who received a first dose at a County vaccine clinic, Riverside County health officials will reach out to residents through the contact method provided at the first appointment. If the date for your second dose has passed and you have not been contacted by email or phone, please call 2-1-1 for assistance.

For those who received a first dose at one of the community providers, check with your primary care physician or other community providers who may have appointments available. Click here to read more

EISENHOWER HEALTH COVID-19 UPDATE

As of February 19, 2021, Eisenhower has performed over 29,000 vaccination shots. At one point, we were performing over 1,800 shots per day until California curtailed the supply of both Pfizer and Moderna. Eisenhower hopes that this week, they will have enough vaccine to finish all our pre-scheduled second shots.

Eisenhower reports a downturn in Covid-19 cases. As of February 19th, they have 34 inpatients, which is a significant and rapid decrease from their peak 180 cases just a month ago.
The Eisenhower 7-day positivity rate also continues to decline – now at just 5.2% (graph 2), much lower than the Riverside County positivity rate which is at 14.4% and the Coachella Valley rate which is at 13.1%.
All of the experts keep reminding us that even after the second dose of the vaccine, we need to continue to wear masks and to keep physical distance as much as possible until we can definitively say that we have achieved herd immunity. As a reminder, herd immunity occurs when enough people become immune to a disease to make its spread unlikely. As a result, the entire community is protected, even those who are not themselves immune. Herd immunity is usually achieved through vaccination, but it can also occur through natural infection.
