California Will Wait Until June 15 to Adopt New CDC Mask Guidelines
As some of you may have heard, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention announced new masking guidelines stating that if you have been fully vaccinated, you can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
Although the State of California has typically followed the CDC’s COVID-19 recommendations, they have not officially adopted the new federal guidelines for face coverings. The California Department of Public Health’s current face covering order is still in effect. It is expected that the State will be adopting the CDC's masking guidance by June 15, 2021. Currently, the City of Rancho Mirage’s current face covering order is in line with the State’s Public Health Department’s order.
