SERI IMPACT MEASUREMENT REPORT

NEW RESOURCES ADDED FOR R2 IMPACT DATA COLLECTION

The SERI Impact Measurement Report request for information has been emailed to all active R2 Certified Facilities, and based on early feedback, we’ve developed new tools to help with the process including an Impact Measurement Calculator Worksheet and a word document outlining all the questions for easier viewing. You can find these new resources as well as the guidance document, FAQs, a project timeline, and more background information on our Impact Reporting webpage on the SERI website. And finally, you can schedule time to meet with our R2 Guru Roger Greive to chat through any data gathering questions or challenges.

BOOK TIME WITH OUR R2 GURU

As a reminder, the data collected will be a critical component in creating SERI's inaugural Electronics Sustainability Impact Report.  We want to highlight positive industry efforts that often go unrecognized and at the end of the project, each R2 Facility will receive a customized report summarizing only your facility’s data, which you can leverage for marketing and business development. Providing accurate operational data helps ensure you get the most value from this report.

R2 BUILDS TRUST IN ITAD SERVICES

With increased attention on IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) services, many facilities are positioning themselves as ITAD service providers. However, expertise and capabilities can vary significantly across the value chain. How can customers identify truly qualified ITAD service providers? It’s R2 Certification that sets facilities apart, and we have resources to help communicate that value.

Watch and share our video, The Journey to Sustainable ITAD, which explains how R2 Certification drives sustainable and responsible practices while delivering benefits for data security, the circular economy, the planet, and creating positive outcomes.

R2 TIP: NOTIFYING CERTIFICATION BODIES (CBs) OF NAME CHANGE

R2 Facilities periodically rebrand by changing company/facility names or unveiling new DBAs. When they do this, however, they must promptly communicate the change(s) to their CBs. The R2 Certification relies not only on the address of the certified facility but also on the accuracy of the names under which the facility operates. As a result, a name change will require the CB to conduct a special audit to verify the name change is effective for all applicable requirements. Otherwise, a new name can confuse customers, , suppliers, auditors, and others trying to determine which names are associated with which R2 Certified facility. Failing to immediately notify CBs and schedule a timely audit of name changes could result in a certificate suspension.

CHAMPIONING ELECTRONICS SUSTAINABILITY AROUND THE WORLD

Each month, we let you know where we’re going and what conversations we’re having for two reasons. First, we simply hope you’ll catch up with us if you are planning to be in the same places. But even more importantly, we want everyone to know how and where we are sharing our message, talking about electronics sustainability for a global circular economy and, in many cases, how R2 fits as a part of the puzzle. We see educating all the decision-makers to make better choices as a big part of the journey to electronics sustainability.

In January, SERI's Chief of Global Standards, Mike Easterbrook, spoke about SERI's new ESG Standard in Salzburg, Austria at ierc2025. Chief Executive Officer Corey Dehmey and the SERI team were in Jaipur, India, helping folks better understand the role that R2 Certification can play in helping meet national e-waste regulations at the MRAI International Material Recycling Convention & Expo. The team also exhibited and helped promote the value of R2 Certification. India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) also hosted a conference on Transforming Electronics: Innovations in Sustainability, Repairability, and E-Waste Management. The conference brought together industry leaders and experts to address the urgent need for sustainable practices in the electronics sector. SERI's CEO, Corey Dehmey spoke along side Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Joint Secretary, Mr. Sushil Pal, ICEA Executive Director, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, and Dr. Sandip Chatterjee, Senior Advisor to SERI.

Where we're headed next:

  • RLA Annual Conference & Expo, Las Vegas, NV, March 11-13 – Catch the SERI team in Las Vegas to learn about R2, the new ESG Standard, and what we have in store for eSummit in 2025.
  • IAITAM ACE 2025, Las Vegas, NV, April 22-24Chief of Global Standards Mike Easterbrook will be in Las Vegas to help IT Asset Managers understand the value proposition of SERI’s new ESG Standard in a session entitled, “Measuring the Impact of IT Asset Management Decision Making.”
  • Circularity, Denver, CO, April 29-May 1 – Chief Provocateur Jeff Seibert will lead a panel discussion to help sustainability professionals understand the importance of their IT assets as part of their sustainability programs and how standards and certifications like R2 can make a big positive impact throughout their organizations.
