Provide Excellence. Experience Success.

FROM THE R3 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Happy New Year! I hope you had a relaxing break filled with family, friends, and a recharge of energy to allow you a prosperous year ahead.

The quote by Oscar Wilde spoke to me as I was preparing to write this week's message. As I scrolled through my social media during the break, I would see how people would joke about breaking their resolutions. I am sure, even if you won't admit it, everyone reading this has made a least one resolution for the new year. When we think about a prosperous year, what does that mean? Have our New Year's resolutions become as trivial as writing a phony check with no intent to cash it? To me, this all originates from our habits. If our habits are not causing us to be prosperous in our work, family, or life, then we should stop writing phony checks with no intent for action.

My challenge to you for this new year is to take that resolution and act on it. If you have become habitual in not cashing in on your resolutions, then do something about it; set up a monitoring calendar, engage an accountability partner, and progress monitor your resolution through the year. The only authentic way to have a prosperous year is to do what you have allowed yourself and others to expect of you, when you have allowed it to be expected, and by the high quality you have allowed it to be expected. Adjusting your habits to align with your resolutions will provide riches for you and others. Live long and prosper!

Happy New Year!

Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL) is a program through which Region 3 provides training and support to campus and district leaders on their ability to build the capacity of educators that they manage. It consists of a suite of trainings intended to foster continuous improvement by helping campus and district administrators grow concrete instructional leadership skills in the areas of observation and feedback, schoolwide culture routines, and data driven instruction.

TIL trainings are aligned with many of the best practices described in the Effective Schools Framework. Region 3 builds relationships and provides ongoing support to our TIL districts throughout the school year.
