Monday, May 31 Is Memorial Day: NO SCHOOL
The events of this week have many of us hugging our children closer. As the school marquee states, this week our hearts break for the families of Uvalde, Texas. We grieve along with their community.

Especially in times of deep sadness and turmoil, I am grateful for opportunities to see good around us. As our school year winds to a close, we are squeezing in all the last minute fun stuff! The 7th & 8th grade class returned this week from their history trip to San Diego with all kinds of neat memories made and the little ones took the opportunity to visit the Shasta College Farm. Summer is just around the corner (technically 2.5 school days!) and the wiggles are out in full force, which makes field trips all the more important! Next week ... a whole school water day to kick off summer!

A very BIG Thank You to all of our supporters for the recent Fun Run. Funds are still coming in, thanks to the online giving link, however we have raised over $10k towards our Outdoor Classroom and Garden so far! You are amazing and we would not be here without all of you. Many, many thanks!

As we enter this Memorial Day weekend ahead, I am thankful for all of those who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we have. Wishing you a weekend full of sweet moments with your loved ones.

Classroom Spotlight: Grades 5 & 6 Mrs. Gungl

On May 9-12, Mrs. Gungl took her students to Wolf Mountain Camps in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Grass Valley. The kids kept busy studying botany, ecology, and ponds. They also had tons of fun horse back riding, shelter building, campfire building, and star gazing; they even fit in a little archery. Outdoor learning at it's finest!
Even Teachers Could Try Archery!.
