July account statements have been emailed to members this week. These statements include your annual membership dues as well as the first installment of Spring Total Herd Reporting (THR) billing.

As approved by the Red Angus Association of America Board of Directors at the June Board Meeting, email delivery is now the default method for member statements.

If you do not have an email address on file or would prefer to receive paper statements, you can update your preference by logging into My Account and selecting your preferred statement delivery option.

Need help finding your monthly statements? With paperless billing now in effect, monthly statements will be available online after month-end processing is complete, typically by the end of the first business day of the following month. The Red Angus Association of America is pleased to announce the release of Hair Shedding (HS) Research EPDs, developed through research funded by the Red Angus Stakeholders Foundation and conducted by the University of Missouri.

The HS EPD predicts genetic differences in an animal's ability to shed its winter hair coat earlier, a trait associated with improved heat tolerance, adaptability, and productivity in challenging environments.

As a Research EPD, this evaluation gives Red Angus breeders early access to an emerging genetic selection tool while additional data are collected and the model continues to be refined. Members who have submitted Hair Shedding records can now view HS Research EPDs for their animals in REDSPro under My Reports.

Continued submission of Hair Shedding data will strengthen the evaluation, improve its accuracy, and support the future advancement of this important selection tool.

The Standalone DNA Parentage test has been discontinued.

As RAAA prepares for the future of parentage verification, standalone parentage and GGP-uLD tests have been replaced by higher-density GGP testing, which provides enhanced parentage verification, genomic information for EPDs and testing for OS and MA.

Please note that attempting to submit a Standalone Parentage Test will delay processing, increasing turnaround time.

Throughout the past year, discussions surrounding Red Angus carcass quality and rail performance have remained at the forefront for Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) members and industry stakeholders. Across the breed, producers recognize the exceptional traits Red Angus cattle possess, positioning them for success in today's value-driven beef industry.

The Red Angus GridMaster Awards showcase Red Angus-influenced cattle that have achieved carcass excellence while recognizing the producers and feeders who utilize superior Red Angus genetics, sound management, and strategic marketing practices.

Red Angus or Red Angus-influenced cattle enrolled in one of RAAA's value-added programs—the Angus Access Program or Allied Access—are eligible for the Red Angus GridMaster Award. Eligible cattle must have been harvested between July 1, 2025, and Sept. 1, 2026, and marketed on a grid basis. Both conventionally fed and naturally fed cattle qualify.

To be eligible, conventionally fed cattle must be marketed in groups of at least 30 head, achieve a minimum of 90% Choice and Prime, have no more than 20% Yield Grades 4 and 5, and attain a minimum grid score of 100. Naturally fed cattle must also be marketed in groups of 30 head or more, achieve at least 90% Choice and Prime, have no more than 25% Yield Grades 4 and 5, and attain a minimum grid score of 100.

RAAA will recognize 2026 Red Angus GridMaster Award recipients in the Red Angus Magazine and honor them during the 73rd National Red Angus Convention, Sept. 11–15, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
