The dogs I’ve written about in my previous books have excelled at finding explosives and bad guys. They’ve helped apprehend suspected terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, discovered deadly caches of weapons and makeshift bombs, led troops safely through mine-laden lands, and taken on intruders at the White House.
The dogs in my book, Doctor Dogs, are keeping people from harm’s way on a new kind of battlefield: They’re becoming our devoted allies in the war against an ever-growing number of other diseases and disorders.
