The RAP4BRONX (Relief Access Program for The Bronx) was established amid the COVID-19 pandemic to collect, donate and distribute food meals, groceries and essential supplies to frontline workers, and vulnerable residents in The Bronx and throughout New York City.

Since our first delivery of 100 boxed meals donated by Great Performances to POTS soup kitchen, on April 1, the RAP4BRONX has grown to be a substantial operator in the New York City food relief space.

Monthly Update: September 2020
As we enter our sixth month of operations, we continue helping these and more community centers and non-profit organizations to get through these unprecedented times.
We work with food pantries, senior citizen homes and other non-profits to help alleviate the stress for community members who find themselves at the intersection of being most vulnerable to the COVID-19 and most impacted by inequity.

via Rethink Food x Union Square Hospitality Group

- 1,800 boxes of dry goods and produce were distributed
via United Way and Door Dash
-
Remaining boxes were donated to RAP4Bronx by United Way and we brought the produce to @thesovereignearthfridge - a community refrigerator collecting and providing fresh produce and healthy items to those in the Kingsbridge Heights area.

-
300 bags of inedible corn were saved and delivered to El Coqui Community Garden to be utilized for composting. A key component in the vitality of community gardens and farms, organic waste is not as easily available due to the pandemic and suspension of the voluntary composting program in NYC.

“Here at the historic landmark Huntington Free Library and Reading Room at Westchester Square, we are proud and excited about our partnership with RAP4BRONX. Since we began working together, our library has distributed scores of thousands of meals to families all over the borough. With the pandemic permeating into the fall, partnerships like ours will become very crucial and important for the livelihoods of our beloved residents in need. Therefore, we must continue to find avenues for relief opportunities so that many more can benefit from this great food program.
Thank you, RAP4BRONX.”
Angel Hernandez, President of Huntington Free Library

We joined an internship program
We participated in a five-week internship program with The Thinkubator where Bronx youth engaged and assisted RAP4BRONX in addressing and further researching food insecurity within their community.
"This experience really opened my eyes to community service and food insecurity in The Bronx. It inspired me to write a paper on it. For my AP Environmental Science class, during the summer we have to write a paper on a form of environmental racism/injustice in our community. My time working with RAP4BRONX inspired me to write my paper on food deserts and food swamps in The Bronx."
Naomi Okunrobo, program participant

We assisted with job placement

Eddie Villalongo, a Bronx native, has been employed by one of our partners and is heading the Union Square Hospitality x Rethink Food meal distributions. Congratulations, Eddie!
