Program Assistant Position (Per Diem)

The RARC is recruiting a part-time Program Assistant to assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of programs within Dr. Danielle Dick’s laboratory. This includes clerical work, procurement, planning and support of program activities, and the coordination of office operations.

Post-Doctoral Position in Neuroimaging and Neurostimulation

Baker Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroimaging and Stimulation is seeking a postdoc to develop new brain-based interventions to correct the aberrant reward and decision making processes that sustain substance use disorders.

2022-2023 BHI Pilot Program in Neuroscience for Center and Program Project Grants

The Brain Health Institute (BHI) is pleased to announce a new BHI pilot grants program in neuroscience to support pilot experiments that will lead to Center and Program Project grant funding from NIH. For the current FY, they plan to offer two awards. Deadlines: one-page LOI is due February 10th, 2023. The final applications are due March 20th, 2023.

Funded Postdoctoral Position Available in Addiction Research

The Rutgers University Molecular Neuroscience of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Training (MNADRT) Program invites applications for NIAAA-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowships related to alcohol and drug abuse research.

RARC Researcher Travis Baker Wins $2.5 Million Grant to Treat Substance Abuse Disorder

Congratulations to RARC Researcher, Dr. Travis Baker, on his new $2.5 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The goal of the grant is to develop new brain-based interventions for substance use disorders.

Project Harmony: A Meta-Analysis With Individual Patient Data on Behavioral and Pharmacologic Trials for Comorbid Posttraumatic Stress and Alcohol or Other Drug Use Disorders

RARC Researcher and CAS Director, Denise Hien, authored a new study published in The American Journal of Psychiatry, that compared the effectiveness of several behavioral and pharmacological therapies for adults with co-occurring PTSD and alcohol or other drug use disorders.

Grand Rounds Virtual Lecture Series

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Department of Psychiatry has released their spring 2023 Grand Rounds Virtual Lecture Series schedule. Of particular interest to our community is, “Leveraging technology to improve screening and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum year,” with Constance Guille, MD, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. EST.

Emerging Evidence on Psychedelic-assisted Treatments for Substance Use Disorders

Rutgers Center of Alcohol and Substance Use Studies is hosting their next Emerging Addiction Science Seminar on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 12:30PM - 1:30PM EDT with Dr. Albert Garcia-Romeu. This session will examine relevant research, important facets, risks, and contradictions relevant to psychedelic-assisted treatments.

President Biden Signs Law Expanding Research on Cannabis

After unanimous consent from the US Senate, President Biden signed into law the Medical Marijuana and Cannabidiol Research Expansion Act, aimed at providing federal support to facilitate research of cannabis and its potential health benefits.

2024 HHMI Investigator Program

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is seeking creative and innovative scientists to join its Investigator Program. They will appoint approximately 25 new Investigators through a national open competition. The application period is now open; the deadline is March 21, 2023.

Funding Opportunities

Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

The  Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute has announced their new research funding opportunities. PCORI's Online System will open on January 10, 2023, for the submission of Letters of Intent (LOI) for the following PCORI Funding Announcements:

  • Prevention, Early Identification, and Treatment of Delirium in Older Adults
  • Brief Interventions for Adolescent Alcohol Use
  • Broad Pragmatic Studies
  • Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Outcomes Research
  • Partnering Research and Community Organizations for Novel Health Equity Research: Addressing Social and Clinical Determinants of Maternal Health
  • Advancing the Science of Engagement

LOIs are due on February 7 by 5:00 pm ET, and applications are due May 2 by 5:00 pm ET.

The International Center for Responsible Gaming

The International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) invites investigators to apply for two exciting opportunities:

  • Three-year Center of Excellence Grant to study gambling and gambling problems among emerging adults in the US. The ICRG is open to a variety of topics in proposals responding to this request for applications. Applicants may request a total of $350,000 in direct costs plus 15% in Facilities and Administration costs. Application deadline: January 31, 2023
  • Two-year Large Grant to study the impact of gambling advertising, including television, digital and push notifications. The goal of this initiative is to determine the aspects of advertising that might promote risky or problematic gambling attitudes and behaviors and provide metrics for the development of advertising guidelines for gambling operators and regulators. Applicants may request up to $172,500. Application deadline: March, 1, 2023
