RBA Player News

Vernon Goodridge (6'10 235 PF/C LaSalle)
Signs with Club 9 de Julio (Argentina LNB)

RBA announces that Vernon Goodridge has signed with Club 9 de Juilio of Argentina's LNB. The deal includes an NBA opt-out clause, along with a European buy-out. When the lockout ends, we expect multiple NBA teams to offer Vernon a deal, but for now his main focus is on helping 9 de Julio win games. "I am excited to get to Argentina and do whatever it takes to help my team win," said Goodridge.

Rashad Bishop (6'6 220 SF Cincinnati)
Signs with Elitzur Ramla (Israel)

RBA announces that Rashad Bishop has signed with Elitzur Ramla in Israel. Rashad was a four-year starter at the University of Cincinnati. This past season he led the Bearcats to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament where he scored 22 points against the eventual National Champion UConn Huskies. Rashad's defensive intensity, deadly three-point shot and ability to attack the rim will help Elitzur Ramla win a lot of games this upcoming season. "Can't wait to get over there", said Rashad. "I'm grateful for this opportunity".

Adam Liberty (6'2 180 PG Oral Roberts)
Offered Contract by the NBA Development League

Adam Liberty impressed scouts at the NBA Development League Camp, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky. Scouts in attendance had high praise for Adam, saying he showed excellent court vision and played terrific defense. Adam was offered a contract to enter the 2011 draft pool and is expected to be drafted in to the NBADL this coming fall.

Nike Pro City 2011

Nike Pro City is an annual league that kicks off in June and runs through the summer. Each week a collection of high-level players, including many NBA players, face off at Baruch College. With the NBA lockout in affect, this year's crop of talent is at an all-time high, as NBA players are looking for a place to play competitive ball.
In a New York Times article about the Nike Pro City games, NBA referee Zach Zarba said "We have to stay on top of our games...this is as close to N.B.A. action as we're going to get." Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs says, "If you got game, this is the place to be."
RBA players including Vernon Goodridge, Brian Addison, Mike Davis, Antoine Pearson and Karron Clarke have been wowing the packed crowds at Baruch and have gone head to head with NBA stars such as Ron Artest, Al Harrington and Marshon Brooks.

RBA Agent Spotlight:
BJ Bass on the NBA Lockout

I've always been the type of person who likes to get the bad news out of the way first.

When it comes to the current lockout by NBA owners, the bad news is that it has slowed the development of RBA's player channel, significantly.

For example, five of RBA's players on the verge of making the league, including Vernon Goodridge, Marvin Phillips, Jamine Peterson, Rashad Bishop and Karron Clarke, all would have been invited to attend NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

Further, because the NBA Development League shut down the Future Cast archive, we have had a hard time getting videos of our players out to international teams.

They just haven't made it easy for us.

The silver lining for RBA however, is our relationship with Basketball City and the new 100,000 square foot facility opening this September at South St. Seaport in downtown New York City.

The RBA Training business at Basketball City will provide a venue for professional Basketball players to train and compete against one another at a world-class facility.

This puts RBA in a unique position amongst sports marketing agencies.

It's been reported that the NBA Players Association and the NBA owners are scheduled to meet again soon. Let's hope they follow the lead of the NFL and get a deal done, so they can take care of their fans and build on the momentum of last season.

In the meantime, Basketball City NY is launching and the timing from that point of view could not be scripted any better.
