Prayer focus from Jeremiah 29:7

"But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." God grant us wisdom to know how to intercede for our city and surrounding communities through prayer, to actively do good and promote the welfare of the city through our good works, and may others see our good works as light in the darkness of sin to that you might be glorified in us and through us.

Further prayer points:

1. Romans 6: 11-12 NASB “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” Father God, You tell us in these scriptures to “watch out” and not let sin get a strangle hold on our lives by listening to our own sinful nature, but rather to listen to God’s word when deciding what to do. Lord God, help us to constantly listen to You and not allow ourselves or others to pull us into the wrong way.

2. Colossians 2:8 NASB “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” Father God, Your way is true and righteous. Remind us to weigh carefully what and how we think about those difficult matters in life. Teach us to search the scriptures to find Your righteous path.
