1. Deuteronomy 6: 4-6 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart." Father God, what an admonition! While our heart’s desire may be to love You, our willful self may pull us in another direction. Would You show us where our devotion to You strays into our own personal ambitions, pleasures or pridefulness?

2. Hebrews 11: 1, 6 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. . . And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Father, we are encouraged because our faith pleases You and You reward the faith of those who seek You. Bless us with more and more faith as we trust Your promises and strive to obey Your Word.
