Proposed Legislation that CT REALTORS Need to Monitor
(HB 5254) The fight for authorizing a pilot program for certain municipalities to do a buyer's conveyance tax to preserve or purchase open space has been raised in the Environment Committee at the request of Rep Gresko, rather than Planning and Development where CTR has stopped it in the past. This will be our first Call for Action to those committee members. (HB 5254)
(SB 9) A proposal by Senator Duff and Senator Witkos to increase ALL occupational licenses by 75% to permit new occupational licensees at a lower cost of entry by reducing those to 25%.
(SB 431) A proposal by Senator Looney for a 1 mil statewide property tax.
(SB 454) A proposal bySenator Looney for school consolidations that will significantly reduce the number of schools - REALTORS in some towns are already worried about the impact on the Spring Market of any threat of school closures in their communities
Proposals CTR initiated - A First Time Home Buyer Savings Account Program, Repeal of the Estate and Gift Tax and the Student Debt Assistance Program.

As a reminder, the state association (CTR) portion of annual dues that is not deductible for IRS purposes in 2018 is $86, not $66 as indicated in your 2018 dues bill and paid at the beginning of 2018 or during the year. The non-deductible part of the NAR dues included on your 2018 dues bill remains $52.
