OKTOBERFEST IS NEARLY HERE

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss the 12th Oktoberfest in Downtown Redwood City! This fabulous traditional German Oktoberfest setting will feature over 1,100 feet of "family style" bench seating, lots of fun and merriment, music, dancing, contests – and, of course – cold beer and other beverages, food and more!

Featuring Happy Hour and festival seatings, the huge decked-out Oktoberfest tent will transform Courthouse Square for revelers of all ages to enjoy.

Want to volunteer? The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation is seeking help to make the magic happen. To learn more about volunteering, visit the Oktoberfest volunteer form here.

In Case You Missed It: History Museum Featured in San Mateo Daily Journal Highlighting Expansion Gallery

The San Mateo County History Museum was recently featured in the San Mateo Daily Journal as historic Victorian-era carriages were craned into the museum’s new Taube Family Carriage House and Automobile Gallery. The 15,000-square-foot expansion will showcase historic carriages, classic automobiles, Ice Age animals and new community gathering space. The expanded galleries are scheduled to open with a celebration in November.

REMINDER: Spring Street between Main Street and Walnut Street Closing Permanently Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1

In their recent newsletter, the City of Redwood City issued the following reminder:

Spring Street between Main and Walnut streets will permanently close beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, as part of the 1900 Broadway development project. The closure will take place overnight between August 31 and Sept. 1.

The closure has been anticipated since the approval of the 1900 Broadway project in October of 2024, and will change the current 5-legged intersection at Main and Marshall to a more typical 4-legged intersection. The change is consistent with the City’s General Plan and Downtown Precise Plan and is intended to improve circulation throughout the Downtown area.

After the closure, drivers and pedestrians will need to use alternate routes around this block. Please plan ahead and allow additional time when traveling through downtown.

Redwood City Hosting Building Accessibility Workshops

Business owners know that making their business physically accessible and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is an important obligation.

The City of Redwood City is inviting business owners to a series of workshops to understand more about accessibility, how to make your spaces accessible, and laws and regulations governing accessibility requirements.

The morning workshop will help local businesses and business organizations increase awareness of accessibility laws and regulations, understand the potential liabilities for noncompliance, and recognize the benefits of the CASp program.

The afternoon workshop will provide an abbreviated accessibility training on federal and state laws and regulations related to accessibility for public buildings, public accommodations, and commercial facilities.
