2023 RCLS ROAD TRIP RECEPTION

On Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, the Moffat Library of Washingtonville hosted a reception that was nothing short of a celebration. The gathering honored the dedicated participants of the 2023 RCLS Road Trip – a remarkable journey through the world of libraries.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including NYS Senator James Skoufis from the 42nd district, the ever-dedicated Orange County legislator from the 11th district, Kathy Stegenga, and the honorable Mayor Tom Devinko of the Village of Washingtonville. They were joined by a gathering of Orange County Library Directors and the tireless staff of the Rampo Catskill Library System (RCLS).

Words of profound gratitude flowed freely throughout the event. Special appreciation was extended to the dedicated staff members at all 47 library locations across Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster counties. Their unwavering commitment, expertise, and boundless passion were instrumental in making the Road Trip an incredible success.

This remarkable campaign was geared towards increasing youth literacy; and incentives and prizes were used to keep people reading throughout the summer. The program drew an astounding 3,479 participants, witnessed 12,239 library visits, welcomed 154 new library cardholders into the fold, and applauded 114 library aficionados who completed the entire 47-library course. The grant funds for this wonderful program were generously awarded to RCLS and its 47 member libraries through Senator Skoufis' office.
