UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK

Redwood City Stands United Against Hate, 2024

United Against Hate Week is here! It's a call for local civic action to stop the hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods, towns and cities. Redwood City stands United Against Hate and we hope you will too.⁠ ⁠Community members can pick up Redwood City/North Fair Oaks Stands United Against Hate posters at the Downtown Library in the lobby while supplies last.

BANNED BOOKS WEEK

Happy Banned Books Week! From September 22-28, Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Redwood City Public Library stands against book banning. We center our service priorities around inclusive programs, services and books that lead to equitable outcomes for members of the highly diverse community we serve. Below are a few ways you can participate in Banned Books Week.

📖 Join the discussion at the Book Bites book club on Sep 24, reading Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn


🍻 Attend Redwood City Library Foundation’s Upscale Pub Crawl on October 9 from 5-9pm to learn about banned books and have some fun while supporting the Library Foundation. Get your tickets here: www.rclfdn.org

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

Redwood City Public Library is teaming up with the Redwood City Fire Department for Fire Prevention Week. During the week of October 6-12, the Fire Department will drop by Library programs for kids to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home. Join us to meet Fire Fighters and learn how best to keep your homes and loved ones safe.

FALL BOOK SALE

Save the date: Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale


Did you know that every book sold by the Friends of the Redwood City Public Library—whether in the Downtown Bookstore or at their large book sale events—comes from community donations? Even better, all proceeds directly support library programs!


Join the Friends on

Saturday, October 19 from 10am-1pm for their final 2024 fundraiser in the Children's Room of the Downtown Library. All books will be 50% off, and prices start at 25 cents. There will be a huge selection of high-quality chapter, soft cover, picture, young reader, young adult and Spanish-language books!
