Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small Announces Leadership Appointments
Rhonda Morien Named Chief of Schools
The Rochester City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Rhonda Morien as Chief of Schools. She officially begins her duties on July 15, 2021.
 
Rhonda Morien returns to the District after serving as Principal of Sherman Elementary in the Rush Henrietta Central School District. With 23 years in the RCSD, she was previously Principal of Mary McLeod Bethune School No. 45 and Francis Parker School No. 23, where she also served as Assistant Principal. Prior, she was a Lead District English Language Arts Specialist at Central Office and spent another 10 years as a teacher leader and classroom teacher at Flower City School No. 54. Throughout her career, she was recognized for school improvement and was named Principal of the Year. Ms. Morien understands the needs of our schools and will play a crucial role in supporting school principals to close achievement gaps and ensure equity. Ms. Morien earned bachelor’s and master's degrees in elementary education and a certificate of advanced studies in educational administration, all from SUNY College at Brockport. She also earned a certificate of completion in the Superintendent Development Program from SUNY College at Oswego.
Caterina Leone-Mannino Named Senior Director of Staff and
Educator Effectiveness in the Office of Human Capital
The Rochester City School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education last evening approved the appointment of Caterina Leone-Mannino as Senior Director of Staff and Educator Effectiveness in the Office of Human Capital. She officially begins her duties in this role on August 1, 2021.
 
Caterina Leone-Mannino most recently served as a turnaround transformation principal at Enrico Fermi School No. 17. Previously, she served in a variety of key roles at Central Office: Executive Director of School Innovation, Director of Expanded Learning, and Director of Extended Learning and Academic Intervention. Prior, she was an assistant principal at the International Finance and Economic Development Program at Franklin High School. She also led professional development, equity and inclusion efforts, and curriculum development through other Central Office roles. Ms. Leone-Mannino served as a teacher in Boston and here in Rochester, including John Williams School No. 5 and John James Audubon School No. 33, where she was a two-way bilingual education teacher, ESOL teacher, and dual language teacher. With 18 years in the RCSD, she is deeply involved in our community and well placed to ensure high-quality staff and educator support, development, and retention in the Office of Human Capital. Ms. Leone-Mannino holds a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic language and literature and bilingual education from Boston University; a master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of Massachusetts; a certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership from the University of Rochester; and is working toward a public leadership credential from the Kennedy School at Harvard University.
