On February 5, the Rochester City School District will be celebrating International Safer Internet Day 2019, hosting events at the District's Central Office and at Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7.
Students from Roberto Clemente School No. 8 will be at the District's Central Office for a day-long
learning experience about being safe on-line. Students at Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7 will be involved in a presentation with representatives from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The material will include a NetSmartz Workshop, an interactive, educational program that provides age-appropriate resources to help teach children how to be safer online and offline.
Safer internet Day is a global initiative to promote safer internet habits for children and adults, including topics such as cyberbullying awareness, online privacy, and appropriate internet behavior. As students have increasing access to the web both in school and at home, they are encouraged to be good digital citizens.
Staff from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the RCSD will engage students in discussions around how to remain safe in a digitally connected world. Safer Internet Day activities will be occurring throughout the day at all District schools and Central Office.
