RCSD and ASAR Reach Five-Year Contract Agreement
(September 23, 2021) The Rochester City School District has reached a collective bargaining agreement with members from the Association of Supervisors and Administrators of Rochester (ASAR). ASAR membership compromises our school building and district leaders, including principals, assistant principals, directors, and other central office professionals. This is a five-year successor to the current collective bargaining agreement, effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2024 and includes:

  • Equity adjustments in starting pay for principals, some civil service titles, and coordinators of athletics
  • Summer school supervision adjustments in compensation
  • Movement of assistant principals from 10-month to 12-month staff
  • Process to study and redesign evaluation tools for certificated positions
  • Introduction of a high-deductible healthcare plan option
  • Five-year agreement with a three-year retroactive payment of 2.5% for 2019, 2.5% for 2020, 2.5% for 2021; and a 3% increase for each of 2022 and 2023

Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small said, “Our administrators inspire our scholars, engage families and community, and support, develop, and encourage our staff. I am pleased that we have come to an agreement that honors and respects our ASAR members. Leadership is essential in ensuring success in school-related factors and its impact on student learning. We are extremely thankful for all our administrators do to support our scholars, families, and community.”

ASAR President John Rowe said, "We are grateful to have reached an accord for our members after several years without a contract. I want to thank the ASAR members for their dedication to the District and for continuing to serve our scholars, as we worked to ensure that a fair compensation agreement was achieved. We will continue to collaborate with the District on their priorities and ensure that students are served at the highest level possible."
