News You Don't Want to Miss!

A lot is happening around the property as we continue to enhance your RDC experience:

  • Long House Restoration: Renovations and safety improvements at the Long House began late last fall and are continuing under the guidance of local architects Samyn-D'Elia Architects, P.A. and contractor Patrick Keefer. The lodge will receive a new roof, new porch, and new sheathing (wood siding). The second floor will be reconfigured to increase the number of double rooms with private half baths. In addition, the historic second floor balconies, gracing the lakeside and each end of the building, will be restored during this renovation.

  • Tree Management: As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and beautiful camp, we identified and removed 50 hazardous trees, including 24 Ash trees affected by Emerald Ash Borers. The remaining trees were removed due to their proximity to buildings, docks, and power lines. Additionally, seven trees with dead branches over parking areas were carefully pruned. Our tree maintenance not only enhances safety but also supports sustainability—harvested wood is repurposed for firewood and cottage repairs, while woodchips are blended with compost to enrich our gardens and surrounding vegetation.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance and preserve RDC!

Writing, Yoga, Knitting, and Mixed Media Retreats & Workshops at RDC

Each summer, RDC partners with several organizations to host unique retreats and workshops during our early and late seasons. Many of these special events are open to the public, offering opportunities for relaxation, creativity, and connection in the beautiful setting of RDC and Squam Lake. Check out the long list of offerings on our website. We hope you’ll join us for one or two!

Get Lucky at the Camp Store this St. Patrick's Day!

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a little RDC spirit! While summer may still be a few months away, you can stock up on your favorite RDC wear now and bring a bit of Squam Lake charm into your everyday life. From cozy sweatshirts to classic tees, our camp store has everything you need to show off your love for RDC—whether you're near or far.

We’re also proud to highlight Minus 33, a local New Hampshire company that crafts high-quality merino wool hats and headbands you'll find in our store. Their gear is perfect for staying warm during these last chilly weeks of winter!

We’re always on the lookout for new and unique items. Later this month, we’re heading to the New England Made show in Portland, Maine (giftware, home furnishing, and specialty food show) to discover fresh finds for the store. The long-standing Spring show held in March of each year, features more than 300 exhibiting companies from all over New England. Stay tuned for exciting new additions, and in the meantime, visit our online store and treat yourself to something green!
