News You Don't Want to Miss!

Greenwood Lodge Restoration

Renovations and safety improvements at Greenwood Lodge began late last fall and are continuing under the guidance of local architects Samyn-D’Elia Architects, P.A., and contractor Patrick Keefer. All rooms in the lodge will be upgraded with private bathrooms, including showers and toilets, enhancing both comfort and convenience. The first-floor kitchenette is undergoing full reconstruction and will be expanded to create more usable space. In addition, several second-floor double-occupancy rooms will feature new private balconies, offering even better views of the lake and surrounding natural beauty.

Retreats & Workshops at RDC

Each summer, RDC partners with inspiring organizations to host a variety of retreats and workshops during our early and late seasons. Many of these special gatherings are open to the public and offer wonderful opportunities for creativity, relaxation, and meaningful connection in the beautiful setting of RDC and Squam Lake. Reiki, writing, yoga, knitting, mixed media, and even an educator's workshop on sustainable energy - there is truly something for everyone. We invite you to explore the full list of upcoming events on our website — we hope you will join us for one or more.

RDC also has a few dates available for private group events. If you are planning a family reunion, retreat, or group fishing trip, RDC offers comfortable lodging, delicious meals, and welcoming gathering spaces surrounded by nature. Guests enjoy activities such as hiking, swimming, kayaking, and more, all right outside the door.

Currently available 2026 dates include May 30–June 1 and June 4–7, ideal for groups of 20–25, with additional space available if needed. For more information or to reserve your dates, please contact Becky at becky@rdcsquam.com or call 603-968-3313.

RDC History Window: Sugar House

Tucked near the main entrance, the Sugar House stands as a reminder of RDC’s maple sugaring tradition. Beginning in 1971, it served for 18 years as the center of late-winter activity, where sap collected from the surrounding maple grove was carefully boiled down into syrup. The process filled the crisp air with warmth and the sweet scent of maple, marking the arrival of spring at Camp.

Interested in witnessing maple sugaring firsthand? Visit New Hampshire during Maple Weekend, March 21–22, and celebrate maple season across the state! Sugarhouses throughout New Hampshire open their doors for tours, tastings, and special events. It’s a wonderful way to experience this beloved tradition and share the fun with friends and family. Visit the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association to find participating sugarhouses.

The Latest from the Camp Store

March is Maple Month in New Hampshire and across New England - time to celebrate the traditions and flavors of maple sugaring season. In honor of sugaring season and RDC’s own Sugar House history, we’re featuring locally crafted maple syrup from Just Maple. You can purchase our exclusive etched RDC logo glass bottles on our website, perfect for gifting or bringing a sweet taste of Camp to your table.

This month also brings St. Patrick’s Day—an ideal time to add a little luck of the lake to your celebrations. Summer on Squam Lake may still be on the horizon, but you can carry your Camp spirit with you year-round. Our online store is stocked with cozy sweatshirts, classic tees, and favorite Camp essentials, whether you’re nearby or miles away.

Soon, we will be traveling to Portland, Maine, for the New England Made Show. The show features unique gifts, specialty foods, and fresh finds from talented makers across the region. We’re excited to bring new treasures back to the Camp Store—so stay tuned! In the meantime, treat yourself to something sweet for your pancakes, or something green to celebrate the leprechaun season.
