RDC Town Hall – May 20, 2020 – 7:30pm
On Wednesday, May 20th RDC’s Owners, Julie Kay, Darrell and Melissa held a Town Hall by Zoom to discuss the end of the 2019/2020 season. We recorded the zoom meeting, it lasted about an hour. That recording is available below but this is a recap of the main points of the meeting.
Friday, May 22 to Monday, May 25th - RDC will be closed Memorial Day weekend and nothing will be posted on ZOOM. All classes were given a credit for this weekend.
Tuesday, May 26 to Saturday, May 30th - Regular Virtual Classes either prerecorded or live by Zoom. Please check your specific teacher’s band for more information.
Friday May 29 & Saturday May 30th - Costume Pick Up - RDC MAIN PARKING LOT
The LA County Department of Public Health is allowing curbside pick- up for all businesses. The Recital Costumes are ready for pick up for all dancers participating in the Virtual End of Season Performance - June 8 to June 15th via Zoom. Here are the details.
WHERE – RDC Main parking lot – Off of Florencita- next to Tom’s Toys
WHEN - Friday, May 29 and Saturday May 30 th
Friday, May 29- 3 to 8pm
Saturday, May 30- 9:30 to 5pm
You can come at any time during these hours. Please park in one of the first two rows behind RDC Main and our staff will assist you. PLEASE DON’T STOP IN THE ALLEY OR GET OUT OF YOUR CAR. Please wear a mask or bandana for the safety of our staff. If your account has a balance, you will not be able to take your costumes home. We will have owners available to take credit card payments. If you are picking up a costume for another student/family, you will need to have an email or text authorization available to show the RDC staff so that we make sure the costumes get to the right places. You will also be asked to follow the same process as if it was your own child. Sorry we can’t have costume pick up at any other time until July 6th.
If you are not participating in the Virtual End of Season Performance, your costumes will be ready for pick up starting July 6 at RDC Main. Our staff will NOT have access to costumes of non-performers until July.  
Monday, June 1 to Saturday, June 6 - Virtual Dress Rehearsal
Classes will be held at regular class times all week BY ZOOM – THEY WILL NOT BE RECORDED – 30 minutes only. The recital choreography will continue to be posted so the kids can practice. The format of each dress rehearsal will be the same so if you have multiple kids in class at the same time and you don’t have multiple devices, you can just choose one of them and our faculty will understand. Kids can wear costumes if they want but not required – we want to make it as easy as possible for your household. Teachers will walk through what will happen on virtual recital day and will give tips about how best to position your dancer and home audience. A Certificate of completion will be in the Notices section of your Band app for each dancer. Teachers will leave the prior week’s recorded class on Band for students to practice their routine on their own for rest of regular class time
Monday, June 8 to Monday, June 15th - SEASON ENDING VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE 
The season ending virtual performance will be done on Zoom during this week. Your dancer’s actual performance day and time has been posted in your Teacher’s band, in the Notices section. If your dancer is concerned because they don’t feel like they know the routine, have them come anyway to support the other dancers and join in the dance party.
HOW WILL IT BE HELD – We are excited that one of our family members who works with LACHSA and has experience with virtual performances will be helping us with the set up and production for the performance on ZOOM. You will be receiving the Zoom link information ON YOUR TEACHERS BAND and we will email the classes individually through our dance studio software system. Some teachers will have multiple show links – please make sure that you are going to the correct time slot for your child’s class. Each class will have two links – A performer link (for the dancer) and an audience link (for parents, friends, other family members).  Audience members will need to REGISTER for the performance. We want to ensure that our platform is secure for the safety of our dancers. Information about how to register for the Audience will be available in our June 1 st Update. We encourage you to take a photo of your dancer on Virtual recital day. We have included a sample photo for you. Make the background memorable - outside or in a special place in your home. Tag us on Facebook and Instagram - we love to see our dancers!

We will be holding an in person Photo opportunity for our dancers at no additional charge at the end of the summer – dates will be confirmed as we progress through the Safer At Home Order. As of right now, we are shooting for Friday Sept 4 and Saturday Sept 5 th . We know that it is Labor Day Weekend but we are trying not to conflict with School activities.
We understand how difficult this uncertain time has been on our community and our families. Obviously no one could have predicted this situation. Many of our friends and colleagues across the country have cancelled their seasons without a final performance but we believe that every dancer deserves memories to look back on from every dance season and we believe in the importance of finishing what they started.
Again, we appreciate all the love and support from our dance families during this crazy time. We know this is not what anyone expected to finish our season but we are committed to seeing this through to the end. Our teachers will be working for all 3 weeks in June but we will only be billing our families for one week of classes
