RULES OF GOLF SEMINARS
BEGIN IN JUST TWO WEEKS -

with every passing day, we are getting closer to the start of the local golfing season - which means that time is running out to learn about the new changes to the Rules of Golf for 2019. Fortunately, the RDGA is here to help!
Beginning on Saturday, March 2 and continuing each Saturday throughout the month of March, the RDGA will be hosting Rules of Golf Seminars for both RDGA Club Members as well as the general public. These three-hour seminars will each be led by our own expert Rules officials and will include refreshments as well as official Rules of Golf books.
Here's how you can sign up for an RDGA Rules Seminar:

For members of RDGA Member Clubs:
you are invited to attend an RDGA Rules Seminar at a nearby RDGA Member Club in your region -
free of charge
! These Seminars will be hosted by Irondequoit CC (on March 2), The Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills (March 9), Mendon GC (March 23) and Ridgemont CC (March 30). CLICK HERE to find out which Seminar is being held in your area and sign up today!

For the general public,
as well as members of the RDGA eClub and other RDGA-affiliated "non real estate" clubs, including: the LPGA Amateur Golf Association, Westside Golf Club, M2D2, IZZO, Early Birds, GCR, Missing Links, Liberty, Quota Shooters, Himalayan, there will be an RDGA Rules Seminar hosted by Oak Hill CC on Saturday, March 16. The fee for this Seminar is $10 and also includes refreshments and official Rules of Golf books.

REMEMBERING PAST RDGA PRESIDENT
RICHARD WOOD - AND A NEW RDGA EVENT FOR SENIOR GOLFERS!
In creating this year's tournament schedule, the Rochester District Golf Association sought to honor one of our past volunteers - while at the same time, providing a new opportunity for members ages 55 and above to play in a popular team format. The inaugural Richard Wood Senior Four Ball was the result of this effort - and is proving to be a popular choice among early registrations.
In May, it will have been six years since the passing of RDGA past President and long-time volunteer Richard Wood. Wood served as District President in 2005, following many years of service on the RDGA Board, as well as a being a senior USGA Rules Official, and the RDGA Handicap Committee Chair. As Handicap Committee Chair - in the days before the GHIN system went to a full online presence - Wood and fellow Board member Larry Faulkner personally visited every RDGA Member Club to oversee their GHIN administration.
In addition to his duties with the RDGA, Wood was also a tireless volunteer in the local community - both as a Rotarian as well as a long time volunteer for the Rochester LPGA at Locust Hill Country Club, where was in charge of course marshals.
On May 14, join the RDGA in saluting the life's work of Richard Wood - sign up for the RDGA Richard Wood Senior Four Ball, to be hosted by the beautiful Links at Greystone. Open to two-person teams - men AND women - over the age of 55, play will be conducted in three divisions: Men's Championship (played from the Greystone Blue Tees at 6,594 yards); Men's White Tees (6,110 yards); and Women's Gold Tees (
5,277 yards). As an added incentive, the players in the top team of the Men's Championship Division will both receive exemptions into the 2019 RDGA District Championship at Penfield Country Club in July.

AS WE SAY GOODBYE TO FORESIGHT
The
Rochester District Golf Association
is pleased to welcome the arrival of
The First Tee of Western New York
to the
Rochester
area, beginning in 2019.
Since its inception in 1997,
The First Tee
has worked to bring affordable junior golf programs to youth and communities across the country that did not have them. Working in partnership with the
LGPA
, the
Masters Tournament
, the
PGA of America
, the
PGA Tour
and the
USGA
, The First Tee discovered that by blending the rules of the game with life and leadership skills, kids and teens didn't just learn how to putt - they were learning important values.
The
First Tee of Western New York
has been working to bring these values - as well as affordable golf instruction - to juniors in the
Buffalo
area for many years. Now, with assistance from the
RDGA
(through local schools and golf clubs), The First Tee of Western New York will also be bringing its message and programs to juniors, ages 7 to 18, throughout the
Rochester
and
Monroe County
region.
With the arrival of the
First Tee of Western New York
this year, the RDGA will be
discontinuing
our
ForeSight Junior Program
, which for the past three seasons brought many of the same values and quality instruction offered by The First Tee to junior golfers in the Rochester area.
We would like to encourage all our past and present ForeSight students to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them in the area - including the
RDGA Junior Membership Program
, Youth On Course , the U.S. Kids Golf Local Tour, LPGA Girls Golf and PGA Junior League, as well as the First Tee of Western New York.
We look forward to working with each one of these programs to continue building a solid foundation of junior golf instruction and participation throughout
Rochester
and
Monroe County
for years to come.

RDGA Delegates for the upcoming golf season. RDGA Delegates fill an important role in the local golfing community, acting as a liaison between their club and the RDGA.
RDGA Club Delegates have a strong interest in growing the game of golf and member participation in golf related events. Delegates collaborate with the RDGA and their club regarding tournaments, clinics,special events and other golf related activities.
