Over the past four years, the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic has hosted numerous talented professional golfers; 16 of the LPGA's current top 90 money winners have come through Rochester and played in this tournament, keeping the history of women's pro golf alive and well in Rochester.
But the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic is more than just an exciting tournament stop of the LPGA's up-and-coming talent. It also supports fledgling student golfers with events like the Future of Golf Pro-Am and the Junior Clinic.
Welcome these talented players - and the awe they inspire in our young golfers -- again as the Flower City hosts the tournament, July 15-21, at Brook-Lea Country Club.
AS A THANK YOU FOR BEING RDGA MEMBER, you can pick up to FOUR (4) complimentary tickets at the RDGA office!! RDGA JUNIOR MEMBERS, AGES 12 TO 18,
ENJOYED 'BEHIND THE SCENES' TOUR
OF THE 2019 KITCHEN AID
SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
|
RDGA Junior Members watch Senior PGA Championship players as they practiced on Oak Hill's putting Green on May 21.
|
When we announced the launch of the inaugural RDGA Junior Membership program earlier this year - for only $20 for the season - we wanted to provide many opportunities for area junior golfers to experience the things that make being a golfer in Rochester so exciting.
For one of those opportunities, we turned to KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship Director Bryan Karns and asked him if he could help out. More than that, Karns went over and above - offering RDGA Junior Members free adult any-day tickets to the Championship - which also allowed for juniors under the age of 18 to attend the event at Oak Hill Country Club last week, free of charge.
If that wasn't enough, Karns also offered to have a group of our Junior Members take a special "behind the scenes" tour of the Championship - which they did, on Tuesday, May 21. As part of the tour, RDGA Junior Members toured the Senior PGA Media Center, experienced the KitchenAid celebrity kitchen, sat in the 18th hole bleachers and interacted with a number of Senior PGA players as they practiced on the Oak Hill putting green.
Our thanks to Bryan Karns and the leadership and staff of the 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship for helping make this possible for our RDGA Junior Members!
