Recent studies show that high levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood can help REDUCE death rates from COVID-19. Omega-3s (EPA and DHA) have anti-inflammatory properties that may lower your risk of death if you contract the virus. While many in the holistic community knew that eating anti-inflammatory foods would be helpful in combatting this virus, the studies are now corroborating what the power of an anti-inflammatory diet that I recommended months ago.

The best form of omega-3 is plant-based, derived from algae, not fish. Fish obtain their omega-3 fatty acids from algae, and so should you. Other forms of omega-3 fatty acids can be derived from eating foods that are rich in omega-3s like flax, chi and hemp seeds, and raw walnuts. Seaweed (dulse, kelp, Irish moss, nori) and algae (sprirulina, chorella) are some of the best sources and they are also high in antioxidants. Be sure to include some form of omega-3 rich foods in your diet daily; you may also opt to take a vegan algae-based omega-3 supplement in liquid or capsule form to ensure you are getting and adequate dose.
