RE-IMAGINING AND RECLAIMING OUR FUTURE
November 11-12, 2022 at First Unitarian Church of Wilmington
We are delighted to personally invite you to participate in a significant event at First Unitarian Church of Wilmington.
We will be joining together as a whole congregation in a strategic visioning and planning event especially designed to bring together a cross-section of our congregation.
We want to ensure that we have a cross-section of the members of our congregation:
· young and old
· new members and longer-term members
· singles, families and retired people
· people in leadership and people who hold no leadership positions—
…therefore you are being specifically invited!
The purpose of this Strategic Planning Summit is to bring together the collective energy and resources of our congregation in order discern our future possibilities and to plan around our commitments for the future of this congregation.
Together we listen and learn from each other as we discern the vision and future strategic directions for our congregation for the next 5 years of First Unitarian Church.
Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12
We will begin on Friday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m. for beverages and dessert followed by our first session from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, November 12 we will continue our work from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, with a break for lunch and then from 1:00-3:30 p.m. The event will be in our Parish Hall. Further instructions will be sent when your registration is confirmed.
Because each session builds on the information from the previous session—your attendance at the whole event is requested.
Our work at this event assumes that each of us must lend our insights and experiences in order to shape and work toward the future directions of our congregation. Working together in small groups as well as in a total group, we will pool information and reflect upon our various experiences, analyze it and define a common ground vision from our various conversations and activities.
Proposing New Actions for First Unitarian
Following this All-Congregation Summit, short term action planning task groups will be established to consider proposed action steps and innovations to bring our vision about. We anticipate that most of you will participate in these focused discussions on a particular strategic direction.
The facilitation of the sessions will be guided by Rev. Larry Peers, who has been national consultant with congregations, religious organizations, and foundations and currently serves as a minister at First Unitarian Church of Wilmington. The Strategic Planning Summit Steering Committee will be assisting in various ways during the Summit and in the action planning groups that follow.
Expect this to be an energizing and inspiring time for First Unitarian Church.
This is not something First Unitarian Church does every year, but it is something that we aim to do every five years.
