Prayer of Pope Francis During the Coronavirus Pandemic

O Mary,
you always shine on our path
as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman People,
know what we need,
and we are sure you will provide
so that, as in Cana of Galilee,
we may return to joy and to feasting
after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who has taken upon himself our sufferings
and carried our sorrows
to lead us, through the cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Congratulations to our Lumen Gentium 2020 Award Honorees!
Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Diocese of Providence had to postpone its annual Lumen Gentium Service Awards Banquet which would have been held this week.

We are thinking of our Lumen Gentium 2020 Award Honorees, please join us in congratulating those who work selflessly in support of the Church in the Diocese of Providence, RI.
Laudato Si Week is May 16-24
This year marks the 5th anniversary Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home
Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
Next week on Thursday, May 21st
The Ascension of Our Lord, which occurred 40 days after Jesus Christ rose from the dead on Easter, is the final act of our redemption that Christ began on Good Friday. On this day, the risen Christ, in the sight of His apostles, ascended bodily into Heaven (Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51, and Acts 1:2). Christ was raised up by His own powers. Tradition designates Mount Olives near Bethany as the place where Christ left the earth. The feast falls on Thursday. It is one of the Ecumenical feasts ranking with the feasts of the Passion, of Easter and of Pentecost among the most solemn in the calendar, has a vigil, and, since the fifteenth century, an octave which is set apart for a novena of preparation for Pentecost.
