Jaclyn Fratangelo Joins REACH Board

In October, Jaclyn joined the Tri-Valley REACH board. Jaclyn is a D&I Nonprofit Employment Specialist at East Bay Innovations. She has a proven track record in managing strategic partnerships, enhancing workforce diversity, developing innovative programs, and recruiting top talent. For more than 17 years, Jaclyn has been committed to helping individuals with disabilities gain independence. As a member of the disabled community herself, she brings invaluable personal experience and insight to her work. Jaclyn holds a Master’s in Human Resource Management.

REACH for Your Dreams -Evening at the Oasis

Tri-Valley REACH is proud to announce the success of its REACH for Your Dreams - Evening at the Oasis event on September 12, 2024 at the beautiful McGrail Vineyards. With tremendous community support, this evening celebrated the shared goal of making the dream of independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) come true by raising essential funds for REACH’s mission. Heartfelt generosity resonated throughout the room, and REACH is looking forward to continuing that momentum into 2025 and beyond.

T-RADD Athlete Summer Celebration Party

On September 18, 2024, REACH in partnership with First Tee hosted a summer sports celebration to honor the hard work and success of the sporting season. Athletes from golf, softball, bocce, and track and field all joined together for pizza, outdoor games, and dancing to live music curtesy of DJ Ren!

T-RADD REACH Scholarships

Are you or a loved one looking to participate in T-RADD sports next season? REACH offers a scholarship program for those 15 years and older with I/DD that would like to participate in the City of Pleasanton’s RADD Program, but may not have the financial means to do so. Participants who meet requirements are eligible to apply.

The Problem with Functioning Labels

Functioning Labels: If you are reading this blog, you have likely heard of the labels “high functioning” and “low functioning” to describe the abilities of Neurodivergent individuals (including intellectual or developmental delay, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, etc.). You have also likely noticed that the spectrum of these abilities falls across a wide range within each individual disability and person, making them “generic” and non-specific. Because of this, there has been a movement away from using functioning labels as they are not an accurate description of someone’s true abilities and can, in reality, be harmful.

Our First ADU is Weeks Away From Completion!

We’re just weeks away from completing our first Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), and soon new residents will be able to move in! This project represents a major milestone in our mission to provide safe and affordable housing options for adults with I/DD in the Tri-Valley. With construction nearing its final stages, we’re excited to share more updates as we approach the finish line! Stay tuned for the big move-in announcement!
