Community News

We are excited to announce that the REACH Shelter Team will host the Scotty B Overdose Awareness Day in collaboration with S.O.A.R.S. and the Baker family.

Scotty B Overdose Awareness Day Flyer

Nine years ago, after the loss of her son Scotty to an overdose, Becky Baker founded S.O.A.R.S. (Substance Overdose Awareness Recovery Services) and held the first overdose awareness day. Now after nine years, it is time to pass the torch and we are honored REACH has been chosen to co-host this year, in anticipation of sponsoring the event in the future.

Exciting Grant Award Announcement

We are thrilled to announce that REACH Advocacy’s Project Haven was awarded a $127,500/year grant through United Way’s highly competitive Community Impact Multi-Year Program! This three-year grant, beginning Jan 1, 2025, will support Project Haven program expenses so that we can continue to provide a place of care for adults experiencing chronic homelessness. We are grateful that United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes recognizes the vital role that emergency shelters play in the pathway towards housing stability. Together, we will strengthen our neighborhoods by stabilizing our most disenfranchised community members.
