Dear Valle Lindo Community,

We are excited to celebrate Read Across America Week, March 2nd - 6th, with our Tigers and Saints through a districtwide focus on literacy and student success. This week is a meaningful reminder that reading is not only enjoyable, it is also one of the strongest predictors of academic growth.

When students read consistently, they build the background knowledge that supports learning in every subject area. Strong reading skills help students better understand math word problems, make sense of science and social studies texts, and communicate clearly through speaking and writing. Reading also strengthens focus, vocabulary, and memory. Over time, it develops critical thinking as students analyze information, make connections, ask deeper questions, and support their ideas with evidence.

Throughout the week, students will participate in engaging themed activities, enjoy guest readers, and explore books that spark curiosity and imagination. Our goal is to help students not only grow as readers, but also discover stories and topics that make them want to keep reading long after the week is over.

We invite you to partner with us in a simple but powerful way: set aside a few minutes each day to read together, ask your child to tell you about what they are reading, and encourage them to choose books that interest them. These small moments add up and help build confident readers, strong thinkers, and lifelong learners.

Thank you for partnering with us to make literacy joyful, meaningful, and part of everyday life. We look forward to a week filled with learning, community, and the joy of reading.

Let’s Go Read Tigers and Saints!
