READBowl VIII Kicks off THIS MONDAY


Here's what You Need to Know


  1. Begin tracking students' minutes Monday January 13
  2. Any reading minutes count (in school in any subject or activity, at home, on the go, anywhere!)
  3. Any reading material counts including read alouds. Get creative!
  4. First Quarter runs from Monday January 13 through Sunday January 19 at 11:59 pm EST. 1st Quarter Minutes are due in the online playbook by Tuesday January 21 at 11:59 pm EST.
  5. 2nd Quarter Kicks off Monday January 20. Please ensure students have what they need to read at home that day. 2nd Quarter runs through January 26. 2nd Quarter Minutes are due online Monday January 27 at 11:59 pm EST.
  6. 3rd Quarter begins January 27 and ends February 2. 3rd Quarter Minutes are due Monday February 3.
  7. The 4th Quarter is SHORTER this year due to the abbreviated timeframe before the Super Bowl. 4th Quarter begins Monday February 3 and ends Friday February 7. Minutes are due in the online playbook by Friday February 7 at 11:59 pm EST
  8. Champions are crowned by Malcolm live online Super Bowl Sunday Feb 9
  9. Minutes logged online include each week include (left to right boxes): Total number of students who read that week. Total CUMULATIVE minutes read by all students. If you have 30 students who each read 1000 minutes you would enter 30,000. The average minutes of 1000 in the right box will say 1000. Click save.
  10. Take advantage of the READBowl Resources section, which includes all the information, pre-written social media posts, extension activities and more!
  11. We encourage you to have intra-building, classroom level or even intra-district competitions among yourselves to get kids reading even more.

IMPORTANT: While this is a competition, we want you to know that EVERY child who gets on that reading field during READBowl is a winner. There are NO losers in READBowl. Let's encourage all of our kids to beat their personal reading bests - a joyful reader can't lose
