Great Scholarship Opportunities!

The Dine Barclay Scholarship  is a great opportunity for a self-advocate or their family member to attend the National APSE Conference where you'll learn: how to find resource groups, advocacy opportunities, actions and community engagement; national, state and regional contacts and network opportunities; top inclusion issues/trends/examples and more. Presentations to include real-life stories of employment and supports that individuals with disabilities utilize to be fully included members of their communities. It is AWESOME and it is easy to apply!

The National APSE Conference will be held June 20-22, 2017 in Portland, Oregon!

Deadline to apply is April 30, 2017.  Apply here.


The 2017 Chuck Sheehan Scholarship   is available in the amount of $1,500 to an individual with disability seeking higher learning.  

The award criteria is listed on application form.

Alabama Governor's Youth
Leadership Forum

Started in 1999, the Alabama Governor's Youth Leadership Forum is an innovative, intensive, five-day career leadership training program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities throughout Alabama. Program activities focus on career planning, leadership development, technology resources and information on disability history to assist young people with disabilities in reaching their maximum potential.

The forum is held on the campus of Troy State University in Troy in June of each year. There is NO charge for student delegates and volunteers to attend this forum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Troy State University. Below is the application in PDF format.

H.O.P.E Connections

Family Voice of Alabama, along with the Family to Family Health Information Center and Children's Rehabilitation Services, is sponsoring their 7th Annual Partners in Care Summit 
on April 20-21, 2017.  The Full Life Ahead Foundation will lead a 4 hour fun and interactive session about transitioning to a Full Life!  This session will be for individuals 18 and older.

Registration opens in February.  More information
