This Sunday, we are preparing to conclude the annual church calendar. Did you know that First Advent, which this year falls on Sunday, November 27th, is actually like the New Years Day of the church calendar? We begin with the birth of Jesus Christ, and end the year by celebrating Christ the King Sunday. Pastor Jordan will preach this weekend (thanks, Jordan!) and we will focus on Creation. Jesus Christ is considered by many as the Second Incarnation of God's love. Franciscans, especially Richard Rohr, consider Creation as the first incarnation, when the Divine revealed Godself through the natural world.
Last Sunday, I encouraged you to go "flaneuring" - to take a walk with no purpose, function or destination, except to enjoy your surroundings. If you have warm enough clothes and safe enough shoes, how much more beautiful might that walk be today or this weekend when the snow has softened the world and made all things bright and beautiful. Whether you venture out in the cold, or watch the snowflakes fall from the warm coziness of your own home, I hope you are at peace and know that you are surrounded by God's love, and ours, at Christ Church!
