REALITY OF FALL RAIN SETS IN

October treated us to a beautiful stretch of mild, dry weather, but the familiar fall rains have now arrived. We hope you had a chance to finish your outdoor projects and enjoy the sunshine before the wetter weather settled in.

For our crews, this seasonal change brings a shift in priorities. As leaves fall and lawns become saturated, our focus will move primarily to leaf removal. We’ll monitor conditions and take advantage of suitable dry stretches to mow while protecting your turf from damage.

Budget Water Conservation Projects

As shown below, water rates continue to rise, making water conservation an increasingly important part of managing your landscape budget. Over the past decade, we’ve invested in the expertise, technology, and services to help you reduce water use and control irrigation costs.

Your 2027 budget includes our recommended water conservation projects, outlined below, to help you plan improvements that support both landscape health and long-term savings.

Pressure Regulated Sprinkler

WATER SAVINGS:  Compared with non-regulated, pressure regulated sprinklers will use about 20-25 percent less water. And if the nozzle breaks, pressure regulators are estimated to save 70 percent of the water that might have been spilled if using an older sprinkler system.

Lawn Conversion

Sometimes the best water conservation solution is lawn conversion. Lawn is a significant and important part of most landscapes, but has been used historically in places where it is difficult to maintain and even more difficult to irrigate. Parking islands and parking strips have small soil profiles surrounded by concrete and asphalt, and have to compete with the tree roots restricted by the location. Changing out from lawn to rock or shrubs or ground cover will save tremendous amounts of waters and beautify the location.

Weather Based Irrigation

Over the past decade, our experience has shown that weather-based irrigation control can reduce water use by 20–30% compared with traditional, manually programmed systems. With water rates rising rapidly, those savings make upgrading an increasingly practical investment.

Historically, converting to weather-based irrigation required an upfront capital investment. Weathermatic now offers a subscription-based model for its SmartLink Wireless Landscape Network, providing another way to bring this water-saving technology to your property.
