REC Celebrates 5,000 Members

Connected to Broadband Internet

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Celebrates Broadband Connections in Madison County

REC recently marked a significant milestone in its mission to ensure broadband connectivity across our communities: 5,000 REC members in five counties are now connected to high-speed broadband internet! This milestone is powered by our partnership with Firefly Fiber Broadband. REC crews and contractors continue to build out our fiber network project, which is helping to bring broadband to unserved and underserved communities. Watch the video to learn how REC is making a major impact in our communities.

'Without You, We'd be in the Dark'

At the end of August, severe storms pummeled many portions of REC's 22-county service area, leaving more than 4,000 members without power. Working overnight, REC crews restored power to all affected members by the following evening. Watch the video to see the damage in the Hartwood-area of Stafford County.

Ongoing Work Improves Reliability

REC's Board of Directors recently went out in the field to see our broadband work in progress. Contractor crews in Madison County are completing make-ready construction, the step before fiber installation. Watch the video and see fiber construction in action!
