REC October Rate Adjustment

In September 2024, the State Corporation Commission approved an increase for rates and bill charges for REC. Effective October 1st, 2024, the average residential member will see a monthly bill increase of $6.52 per month or about 4%.


After careful consideration, REC's Board and leadership team determined that this adjustment is necessary to ensure the Cooperative can continue to meet its financial obligations and support essential investments into the reliability of the electric grid.

Why Your Rates Are Changing

REC has been making significant investments in the strength and reliability of the grid. In 2024, some of these investments include:

  • Upgrading or replacing over 6,000 utility poles
  • Installing more than 800 overhead transformers and 1,200 padmount transformers
  • Working with property owners to remove 1,800 hazardous trees
  • Clearing 830 miles of right-of-way
  • Investing in make-ready construction, supporting the fiber network to bring broadband to REC members
