The COVID-19 situation has created considerable uncertainty and concern for everyone. This is an unprecedented situation, and we want to support you.
We know that RECEs are dedicated, caring professionals, committed to supporting children and families. We know that you are a valued part of your communities, a vital support to families and respected partners to your colleagues. That has never been clearer than it has in the past few days.
We have been reading your emails and your social media posts. We have spoken to you on the phone. We know that, like all of us, you are concerned. We know that you have loved ones that you are worried about. We know that you are frustrated by conflicting information and the absence of clear direction, and we shared this concern with government yesterday. The letter to the Minister can be viewed

We hear you and we are in this with you. We are committed to getting through this situation together as a profession. We want to support you as we take the necessary precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect children, families and educators. This situation will pass, and when it does, we want to support you as you return to the roles that you love, where you will support the entire province’s ability to get back to normal.
We don’t have all the answers. But we can promise you that:
- we will monitor the situation constantly, focusing on its impacts on the profession
- where possible, we will adjust our processes to accommodate the changing circumstances
- we will listen to your concerns and answer the questions that we can
- we will raise issues with government on your behalf and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the sector
