To "rediscover"" is to find interest again in something that has been forgotten. This is what many of us have experienced after the struggles of 2020 and 2021. Two years that have shaken us so much that we have changed the way we see ourselves and those around us. We have reconsidered what is truly important in life and we have learned to value who we are, what we have, and where we come from. We have not reinvented ourselves, we are the same as before, but we have rediscovered our “selves”, and have a new appreciation and interest in our surroundings. We are an improved version of 2019, more in touch with our humanity, closer to our loved ones, and more in tune with our origins.
From this place REDISCOVERY was born, a personal selection of photographs by Cuco de Frutos composed of evolved iconic works from his last exhibitions in New York, and new pieces created during the pandemic.
"I moved to New York City after 20 years in Madrid but my roots remain in Campo de Gibraltar, and I will never lose the strong connection to this area that has shaped my life, and my work. These three locations play an important role in the new REDISCOVERY collection. The photographs are printed and signed in my New York laboratory, mounted and framed in Madrid, and installed in an exquisite Andalusian paradise in southern Spain: La Reserva Club Sotogrande.”
