Virtual event will feature elected leaders from Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties and the City of Alexandria on August 18
ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arlington Chamber of Commerce will host the 5th Annual Northern Virginia Regional Elected Leaders Summit with premier partner, the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and co-hosts, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Prince William Chamber of Commerce, and Northern Virginia Regional Commission.

This virtual event will offer Northern Virginia's business leaders the opportunity to learn about the economic climate in the region, hear about new and ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering economic growth, and discover how each jurisdiction in Northern Virginia can work together for the betterment of our regional economy, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Although this year’s program looks a little different, the importance of working together as a region has never been greater, said Kate Bates, President & CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. "We are proud to host this important event with our fellow chambers, and we look forward to this important regional conversation."

"Even in a virtual world, this event will be a great opportunity to learn what is happening across the region," said Julie Coons, President & CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce. "Local governments have led on COVID, from health testing to new zoning rules to small business grants. I look forward to hearing from these leaders what is on the horizon for Northern Virginia.”

The decision to the make the event virtual came after much discussion regarding the reopening plans for Northern Virginia.

“We’re once again excited to partner with our neighbor chambers on this Summit," said Joe Haggerty, President & CEO of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. "Now, it is more important than ever for all of us to work together with our elected leaders to support our communities and the region as a whole.”

“In this ever changing environment, it is important now more than ever to hear from our regional leaders," Debbie Jones, President & CEO, Prince William Chamber of Commerce. "We greatly appreciate the opportunity to present access to these regional leaders while partnering with our fellow chambers."

The event will feature elected officials from across the area, including Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Penelope Gross, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Koran Saines, Prince William County At-Large Chair Ann Wheeler, and Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson. Drew Wilder, Northern Virginia Reporter for NBC Washington, will serve as the moderator.

“It’s critical, now more than ever, that our leaders look towards collaboration and interjurisdictional solutions to address the needs of our workforce and business community," said Grafton deButts, Vice President of Membership & Government Affairs of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. "We are appreciative of our elected officials' participation in the Regional Leaders Summit and their proactive approach to engaging our business stakeholders in the process.”

The event will be held on Tuesday, August 18 from 8:15-10:00 a.m. Registration is available online. Media is invited to attend, but RSVP is required. Contact Scott Pedowitz at (703) 525-2400 x203 or advocacy@arlingtonchamber.org to confirm your attendance or learn more.
