ARLINGTON CHAMBER ANNOUNCES 2020 PUBLIC POLICY POSITIONS
|
ARLINGTON, VA. - Today, t
he Arlington Chamber of Commerce released its policy position recommendations for 2020. The policy positions comprise two documents: one containing legislative priorities for the Virginia General Assembly's 2020 session, and one focused on local issues within the purview of Arlington County's government. The Chamber will use these positions as the basis for its advocacy activities for businesses in 2020.
The policy positions cover a wide range of topics of importance to Arlington's business community. The Chamber's top priorities for Arlington and Virginia's economic wellbeing include maintaining
economic development programs as a chief policy priority, expanding resources for
housing development, and funding necessary improvements for our
transportation infrastructure. In implementing these policies, the Chamber encourages the Commonwealth and County governments to continue instilling an
emphasis on business attraction and accommodation, which have made Virginia and Arlington regarded as premier locations for business.
"We believe that these policies will help further the Chamber's mission to strengthen businesses and the economic environment for those who work, live, and do business in Arlington, and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia," said
Kate Bates, President & CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. "As the Chamber looks ahead to 2020, we established these public policy positions to build on our shared success to realize Arlington's, and the Commonwealth's, full economic potential."
The Chamber's Board of Directors adopted the public policy positions at the conclusion of a drafting process led by the Chamber's membership. The Government Affairs and Economic Development Committee wrote the initial public policy position drafts, following discussions with members of Arlington's General Assembly delegation about legislative priorities. The Chamber's Executive Committee reviewed the drafts and then sent them to the full Board of Directors for adoption.
