Arlington Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Record-Breaking Restaurant Week Amid Economic Headwinds

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arlington Chamber of Commerce proudly concluded its seventh annual Arlington Restaurant Week, marking a record-breaking year with 95 participating restaurants. This year's event came at a critical time for Arlington's restaurant community as they navigate economic headwinds and uncertainty. Despite these challenges, Arlington Restaurant Week highlighted the rich diversity and creativity of Arlington’s culinary landscape while providing valuable exposure to local restaurants.

Arlington Restaurant Week offered diners the opportunity to experience the full range of Arlington’s dining scene through curated menus and limited time offers each set at the restaurant's price point of choice. Each participating restaurant featured selections inspired by cuisines from around the world, including Lebanese, Mexican, Mediterranean, French, Thai, and more.

The success of Arlington Restaurant Week translated into measurable gains for local restaurants. "We saw roughly a 25% increase in business during Restaurant Week," said Javier Candon, owner of SER Restaurant in Ballston. "Since the government shutdown, our sales have dropped to about half of normal levels, so Restaurant Week truly made a meaningful difference for us during a tough period."

Arlington Restaurant Week invited diners to support our restaurant sector as it faces a slowdown in foot traffic and consumer spending due to the ongoing government shutdown and economic uncertainty. This has compounded existing challenges felt by the restaurant sector, such as staff shortages and the rising costs of key ingredients. Arlington Restaurant Week served to celebrate and support our restaurants, which contributes greatly to Arlington's economic vitality and character.

Participating restaurants received considerable exposure. 36 participating restaurants were highlighted in media, including television segments on both FOX 5 Good Day DC and NBC 4 Washington, totaling more than 152,000 search appearances. This media highlighted participating restaurants to a regional audience, encouraging both regular customers and fresh faces to patronize Arlington Restaurant Week. Social media posts on Restaurant Week also totaled more than 70,000 views.

"Beyond celebrating incredible food, Arlington Restaurant Week brings our community together while driving real impact for our local economy," said Kate Bates, Arlington Chamber President & CEO. "Supporting these restaurants not only sustains jobs and fosters creativity, but also strengthens the character and vibrancy of Arlington, making it a place where neighbors, friends, and visitors can come together and enjoy something special."

The Chamber was pleased to offer complimentary participation to member restaurants, thanks to the generous support of this year’s sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor Amazon. A complete list of participating restaurants is available here.

The Arlington Chamber remains steadfast in its mission to champion Arlington’s restaurant community all year round. Continued patronage of local establishments helps sustain not only our small businesses, but also the greater economic resiliency of Arlington. The Chamber advocates for a strong, healthy hospitality sector in Arlington, and a vibrant restaurant sector is a critical part of hospitality.
