"It is with great sorrow that our community mourns the loss of journalist Michael Feeney, a young man dedicated to his craft and furthering the contributions of African Americans in this field," said Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez (D - Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill). "Mike served our Northern Manhattan community admirably, spending time at the New York Daily News Uptown desk, telling the stories of our residents and keeping them informed of the comings and goings in the area. As a former president of the New York Association of Black Journalists, he was a leader in strengthening the role that young journalists of African descent play across the media landscape. He will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues and our entire community Uptown. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."
