INWOOD RESIDENTS LIVING WITH NO HEAT OR HOT WATER: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

New York, NY - Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez Joined NYS Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa, NYS Senator Marisol Alcantara, Representatives from LIUNA Local 78, Tenant Advocates, and residents of 3852 10th Avenue in Inwood, to call on landlord Julian Rodriguez to restore services to the tenants who had been living without heat and hot water for months, while highlighting the specific conditions that have troubled residents in this Inwood building for years.

Last year, residents in 3852 10th Avenue were rushed to the hospital, after breathing in dangerous carbon monoxide due to a boiler leak. The building has over 300 violations and residents have complained of severe rodent infestations with no support from their landlord to make needed fixes. However, after several months without heat and hot water in this cold weather and more than 20 complaints to 311, the tenants are desperate and are crying for help from the City. 

"It is unacceptable and criminal for New Yorkers to live in such precarious conditions. We demand that these essential services be restored at once," said NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez. "Something must be done about repeat offenders like the landlord of 3852 10th Avenue. Be sure that we will continue to amplify the voices of these and all tenants victims of abusive landlords."

"The tenants of 3852 10th Avenue have had to endure unimaginable conditions for years at the hands of a neglectful landlord," said NYS Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa. "Even with the most severe weather conditions, the families in this building have had to live without the most basic services of heat and hot water. The actions of this landlord are criminal and these tenants deserve to live in dignity."

"Winter comes every year, but for some landlords, it seems to come as a surprise". Said NYS Senator Marisol Alcantara. I stand with them tenants of this building and I call on the landlord to immediately restore heat and hot water. This is an issue of human health and an issue of human rights."

RESIDENTES DE INWOOD QUE VIVEN SIN CALOR NI AGUA CALIENTE: BASTA YA!

Nueva York, NY - El Concejal Ydanis Rodriguez se unió a la Asambleísta Carmen De La Rosa, la Senadora Marisol Alcantara, Representantes de la Union Local 78, Defensores de Inquilinos y Residentes del edificio localizado en 3852 10th Avenue en Inwood, para demandar que el propietario Julian Rodriguez arregles los servicios a los inquilinos que haban estado viviendo sin calefacción y agua caliente durante meses, a la vez hablaron de las condiciones específicas que han afectado a los residentes de este edificio de Inwood durante años. 

El año pasado, los residentes del edificio 3852 de la 10 Avenida fueron trasladados al hospital, después de inhalar monóxido de carbono peligroso debido a una fuga de la caldera. El edificio tiene más de 300 violaciones y los residentes se han quejado de graves infestaciones de roedores sin el apoyo de su propietario para hacer las reparaciones necesarias. Sin embargo, después de varios meses sin calefacción y agua caliente en este clima frío y más de 20 quejas a 311, los inquilinos están desesperados y piden ayuda a la Ciudad. 

"Es inaceptable y criminal que los neoyorquinos vivan en condiciones tan precarias. Exigimos que estos servicios esenciales sean restaurados a la vez ", dijo el Concejal Ydanis Rodríguez. "Algo se debe hacer sobre los reincidentes como el propietario de 3852 10th Avenue. Asegúrese de que continuaremos ampliando las voces de estos y todos los inquilinos víctimas de terratenientes abusivos ". 

"Los inquilinos de este edificio han tenido que soportar condiciones inimaginables durante años a manos de un propietario negligente", dijo la Asambleísta Carmen De La Rosa. "Incluso con las condiciones climáticas más severas, las familias en este edificio han tenido que vivir sin los servicios más básicos de calefacción y agua caliente. Las acciones de este propietario son criminales y estos inquilinos merecen vivir con dignidad ".  

"El invierno llega todos los años, pero para algunos propietarios, parece ser una sorpresa", dijo la Senadora Marisol Alcántara. Estoy apoyando a los inquilinos de este edificio y llamo al propietario a restaurar de inmediato el calor y el agua caliente. un problema de salud humana y una cuestión de derechos humanos".
