Statement on returning as chair of the Council Committee on Transportation

New York, NY  - The Office of NYC Council Member  Ydanis Rodriguez issued the following statement on the Council Member  returning as Chair of the Council Committee on Transportation for the next 4 years.

"I am honored to return as Chair of the Council Committee on Transportation. In the past four years, we have advocated on behalf of all New Yorkers for a public transportation system that delivers reliable service; held over a dozen oversight hearings; passed over 60 pieces of legislation, including bills such as the DJ Jinx Paul hit-and-run alert system and one establishing a delivery truck congestion task force; promoting alternative ways of transportation through the annual Car Free Day and the expansion of bike share programs; and tirelessly called for the installation of pedestrian safety bollards throughout the city. We have taken on many concerns of the taxi industry, raised our voices in favor of equity within the industry, stood by individual taxi medallion owners, and shepherded legislation that would guarantee every for-hire vehicle driver could be tipped. The past session we worked together to make mass transit more equitable, make our streets safer for all, and enhance transportation options. I look forward to working with Speaker Corey Johnson and the members to take our Transportation System to the 21st Century and make it more safe and effective. We will continue expanding Vision Zero, especially eradicate the Hit-and-Run epidemic".

DECLARACIÓN SOBRE EL REGRESO POR 4 AÑOS MAS COMO PRESIDENTE DEL COMITE DE TRANSPORTACION

Nueva York, NY - La Oficina del Concejal Ydanis Rodríguez emitió la siguiente declaración sobre el regreso del Concejal para seguir en la Presidencia del Comite de Transportacion por los proximos 4 años.

"Me siento honrado de regresar como Presidente del Comité del Transportacion en el Consejo Municipal. En los últimos cuatro años, hemos luchando en nombre de todos los neoyorquinos por un sistema de transporte público que brinde un servicio confiable; Tuvimos más de una docena de audiencias de supervisión para asegurarnos que el transporte en la ciudad sea mas eficiente; aprobamos más de 60 leyes, incluidos proyectos de ley como el sistema de Alerta de Hit-and-Run para los conductores que chocan una persona y se fugan, llamado DJ Jinx Paul y uno que establece una fuerza de tareas de congestión para camiones de delivery; promovimos formas alternativas de transporte a través del Día Anual sin Automóviles y la expansión de los programas de bicicletas compartidas; e incansablemente pudimos lograr que la ciudad comienze con la instalación de barreras de seguridad en las calles mas peligrosas para peatones y ciclistas.
