UPTOWN ELECTED OFFICIALS PRAISE MAYORAL APPOINTMENTS

New York, NY-On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, State Senator Adriano Espaillat and Assembly Member Gabriela Rosa praised the appointment of Dr. Feniosky Pena-Mora to lead the NYC Department of Design and Construction, Lisette Camilo to the Director to the Mayor's Office of Contract Services and Jacques Jiha to the Director of the Department of Finance.

Dr. Pena-Mora has recently collaborated with the Uptown community in outlining a vision for the future Northern Manhattan-a blueprint for the next 15-20 years-that takes into account needs, amenities and development projects, intended to perpetuate the positive gains the area has made over the past decade. This plan was presented by Dr. Pena-Mora on Sunday, April 6th, during Council Member Rodriguez's State of Northern Manhattan and Marble Hill Address. The elected officials applauded Mayor de Blasio's decision:

"Mayor de Blasio has taken a strong step forward with the appointment of Dr. Feniosky Pena-Mora to commissioner of the DDC. This is a credit to his extensive career in research; teaching; and construction management; and he will provide New York City with the experience and knowledge needed to improve our aging infrastructure. Dr. Pena-Mora is more than capable of hitting the ground running as we look to build new schools, bolster our roads and bridges and develop new, inclusive strategies for design and construction. We have seen how our city's crumbling infrastructure can have devastating effects on communities and we need a leader like Dr. Pena-Mora if we are to move forward seamlessly into the future.

"We also  applaud the appointment of  Washington Heights' own, Lisette Camilo, to the Mayor's Office of Contract Services. Her experience will be crucial in expanding opportunities for Minority and Women-Owned Enterprises in New York City. We are pleased with the mayor's commitment to building an administration that mirrors the wonderful diversity found in New York City and these appointments are aligned with that goal
