presents

"Bringing Health Equity Rounds to Your Practice"

Speaker: Jackie Hsieh, MD MPH, FAAP

Pediatrician - Pediatrics at Newton Wellesley, PC

Date and Time: December 9, 2025 - 12 – 1 pm

OVERVIEW:

Utilizing a health equity lens is critical in the care of all patients. With the AAP Advancing Chapter Equity grant, the Chapter has focused on increasing pediatricians' exposure to Health Equity Rounds (HER). Health Equity Rounds are often given in academic or hospital settings. With this presentation, we will focus on how pediatricians can establish HER in the pediatric office/ambulatory care setting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify unique challenges of initiating Health Equity Rounds in a community private practice and ambulatory setting
  • Create a plan for initiating Health Equity Rounds that engages clinical and non-clinical staff at the participants' individual practices
  • Define "implicit bias" and "microaggressions" and apply these concepts to patient care as well as operational aspects of managing a practice
